Birthday Celebration

zwani.com myspace graphic comments
As we celebrate my birthday today, I have some funny memories to share in just few hours of my birthday today. My husband gave me a birthday card with a sweet message inside the card. He surprised me with some colorful roses today and the delicious chocolate-coffee ice cream cake. I made a list of the things I needed because I will be the one to cook for my birthday dinner tonight. I let my husband do the grocery shopping. I found the recipe from the Chinese Cookbook that Wenggay gave me as a souvenir birthday gift from her. I love the Asian Cuisine!

So I cook the Spicy Spareribs and the White and Red Prawn with Vegetables I found in the cookbook. It was delicious! Of course, my husband can attest to that. He actually enjoyed our dinner and so do I. It was like we had dinner in a fine dining restaurant in town by the help of the cookbook. We had a wonderful birthday dinner and ate the chocolate-coffee ice cream cake for dessert too.

Just A Thought

Well, what can I say? I am still on the process of healing my right jaw from the surgery. It is getting colder outside and every time I go outside to feel the weather, my ears and nose can feel how cold it was outside. I have to put my coat and shoes with socks on to keep me warm. Still, I am enjoying the marvelous taste of the soft foods that my husband bought just for me. Although sometimes, I can get a little bit of taste on what my husband is eating - pork chop, fried chicken, turkey sandwich and T-bone steak. But that is just a little taste! Eventually, I am missing the taste of those foods. I miss savoring each and everyone of them.

I just wish I can open my mouth wide open to eat. I just wish the surgery and the stitches will be long gone for me to eat. I know I will, in due time, I know I will be enjoying what my husband is enjoying right now. I just wish he will not tease me while he's eating any food that he will put in his mouth. As for me, I will be fine... I will be all well in 2 weeks and will no longer sick. Besides, 2 weeks is already long for me. I just miss pampering my mouth with good food.

My Husband is My Cook

It has been 2 weeks now since he cooked the Tilapia Fillet with garlic and herbs. It was actually a ready-made breading fish that we bought few weeks ago but the thought of cooking it for me was fantastic. As you all know, my husband doesn't eat fish a lot. He can eat several variety of fish but not too much. He will just taste it to know whether it's a good fish or not.

He prepared everything that he needed and of course, he cooked my tilapia fillet with all his heart and some sweetness. He also cooked the veggie stir-fry for the side and I will tell you that it was all good. I had fun eating my Tilapia Fillet with garlic and herbs. For sure, this will not be the only time he will cook for me as I like to be spoiled with my cooking husband. It is just great to know that you can beg for your husband to cook for you.

Ten Dating Red Flags

When determining if you should let things get serious, remember: actions speak louder than words. With that being said, here are ten dating red flags. If you see any of these, do yourself a favor and reconsider if it's worth it for you.

1. You are not on the VIP list for breaking news

Were you the last to learn about this person's job promotion or newborn niece or nephew? Once things are serious, you should be among the first to know about exciting news, or bad news.

2. They avoid meeting your family or friends

If they are shying away from meeting your friends/family consistently, then there are problems. Even if they are very shy, they should want to meet those who are important to you.

3. They don't make any sacrifices

Healthy relationships don't require bending over backwards all the time, but a certain amount of sacrifice is necessary in a selfless union. When two of my friends first started dating one another, she demanded that he go to Farm Aid for her birthday, which was also the opening NFL football Sunday. While all the guys gathered to watch the games, he was sweltering on some field attending Farm Aid -- an event he never would have gone to if she hadn't have invited him. Now that's sacrifice.

4. They can't fit in your future

I admit it. When I meet girls, I envision future moments I may some day share with them. Most of my scenarios are her with me and my family at a Thanksgiving holiday or at a summer crab feast. If I'm really into her, I usually relish the thought. If not, I kinda cringe.

5. They are too controlling

It's scary but I've seen many relationships where guys forbid girls to hang out with certain friends, or wear certain clothes. Major problem if someone is controlling you and not allowing you to be who you want to be within a relationship.

6. The "what are we" conversation fails miserably

Almost every relationship hits that crossroads where you both decide if it's worth taking the plunge into being exclusive and calling each other boyfriend/girlfriend. If they are confused and surprised that you're ready to get serious, the timing is not right, and you should try to figure out how long you want to wait around until they are ready.

7. They talk about plans that don't involve you

My sister has major wanderlust. She's always talking about heading off to Chicago or living in London for a year. She often talks about these things with no regard for the fact that she has a boyfriend at the time. If you find that someone is making plans or talking about far off places without inviting you along for the ride, don't let yourself get too into this person.

8. Your friends or family don't like them

Remember that your friends and family know you best. Don't take their thoughts with a grain of salt. It's one thing if a person or two don't get along with your significant other, but if a lot of them are saying you should reconsider, then do it. Unfortunately, we often find out about how much our friends hated that person after this person is gone.

9. They violated your trust

Whether it's cheating or a little lie that they got caught in, it will be hard to regain trust. Trust is something we don't give away easily, and once it's gone it's hard to get it back. We'll always be wondering about that lie, and doubt will creep in more and more as our minds fixate on that lie. Too often, people take trust for granted and once they lose it they never get it back.

10. You practice "unbalanced dating"

Are you always seeing his friends or doing things that he wants to do? Do you just let him pick the restaurants and events? Or is it the other way around? Relationships are fun when you are both able to contribute. If you're not taking turns creating fun times together, it will most likely fizzle out.
What would you add to the list? Ever been a victim of any of these red flags?

Kicked Up Breaded Pork Chop

Last night, it was my chance to cook something good for my husband. It was my turn also to cook for our dinner since he's the one who cook our dinner the other day. So I looked inside the refrigerator what are the things I needed to prepare for the dinner. I saw the pork chop meat and decided to cook it. I have been making breaded pork chop ever since I came here in the United States. It is one of my favorite food and and it is easy to cook. When my then fiance - Winn came in the Philippines to spend his winter time for about almost 4 months, I remember that I cooked this recipe for him.

I got this recipe from Jacy Recipe: Kicked Up Breaded Pork Chops. I thought I had a hard time finding the ingredients for the marinade and breading. But to my surprised, I have all of them in the kitchen. I let my husband cook the corns and I cooked the sauteed mushrooms and onions for the side dish. I baked the breaded pork chops for about 20 minutes as to what the instructions said but it seems that the breading around the meat turned out not cooked at all - not crisp and golden brown. So I dip it in hot cooking oil and fry it instead. It was all good and we had a great feast!

Wedding Anniversary Aftermath

As we celebrate our first wedding anniversary yesterday, there are lots of things that we should be thankful. Besides, it has been a wonderful year for us as a couple and I can really say that I have enjoyed and will always enjoy being with my sweet and loving husband. He always tells me how important I am in his life and how much he loves me. There are many things he did and will always do for me. He thinks I am so fragile that I need him by my side all the time. He made me so special everyday, he let me do whatever I want and guide me whatever things I need to know.

He visited me in my workplace and surprised me with a dozen of bloody red roses and ice cream cake. We had a good dinner too inside our office. Luckily, my boss from work was kind enough to spare us some time to be together and celebrate our wedding anniversary. We had a steak, ate the ice cream cake. For sure, we will catch up for everything that we didn't always do when we celebrate a special day. Defnitely, we will celebrate it this coming winter time as I am off 6 months from work to enjoy my winter vacation and be with my husband.

Let's Celebrate!

Yesterday, my husband prepared something delicious in the table. It's a breaded catfish fillet with potato wedges. He dipped it in his home-made special breading butter and served it with so much love and sweetness. I asked him what's the buzz, and he just answered back to me... "It's a pre-wedding anniversary celebration. I couldn't believe he's acting like that in-front of me. First, he surprised me of some things that would make me happy then he cooked special dinner for us and now, he's being more, and I mean much romantic of me.

I guess, things are getting better and better, even creating more fun in our relationship and making one another special and so loved. Today, I don't know what's gonna happen. I don't have a day-off to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. But I am pretty sure that he's preparing something for our special day while I am here working 12 hours a day. I can't wait to be fetched and celebrate our wedding anniversary. Thank you God for the 1 year of being so good together, for the blessings and for all the sweetness, love, support and care that we always do for each other. Thank you God for guiding our relationship throughout the years - the first time we hear each others voice, the first time we saw and get together and the first time we promised to live, love and care for each other.

Wacky Beauty Tips That Actually Work

Toothpaste on a pimple? Vinegar in your hair? Some of that ridiculous-sounding advice you've heard in passing is really right on...

You've been told this line before: "Okay, I know it's weird but ..." What follows is surprising advice — about anything from clearing up a zit to taming a flyaway — that totally does the trick. Call it word-of-mouth beauty. Sure, these tips might sound strange at first ("You put diaper cream where?!"), but there's a logic to them. We rounded up tons of such pointers (from pros as well as real girls) and tested them at Cosmo. Though a few clunkers had to be kicked to the curb, all the rest, presented here, are real gems.

1. Powder Your Roots

  • If your hairline starts to look greasy, dig up a big, fluffy makeup brush, and dip it into a pot of loose powder. Tap it once on the back of your hand to remove the excess, then dust it over your roots. It mops up oil and blends into your strands, so no one will know you didn't shower.

2. Scent Strands with Perfume

  • Spray a light shot of fragrance into the bristles. Run it through strands from roots to ends and your hair will smell amazing throughout the day.
3. Cure Calluses with Vaseline
  • Slather on the petroleum jelly, and put on socks before bed to dissolve tough calluses overnight.

4. Spot-Treat Smudges

  • Dip a cotton swab in eye-makeup remover, and trace it along your lids to erase any slipups or goofs when there's no time to redo your whole look.

5. Fix a Flushed Face

  • If you turn red and stay that way after exercising (like seriously red for hours, even though you're healthy and hydrated), take an antihistamine like Benadryl when you leave the gym to reduce redness.

6. Soften Your Bod with Avocado

  • Take a ripe avocado, remove the pit and skin, and mash it up in a bowl. Slather it all over your body, let it sit for 20 minutes, then rinse off. Your skin will be so soft — avocado is a natural moisturizer.

7. Super-Glue a Nail

  • Instead of tearing off your nail when it breaks, put a tiny dab of Super Glue over the split, and paint a generous layer of your favorite nailpolish shade over it. Go for an opaque option (like red, purple, or coral) to camouflage and seal the crack.

8. Use Makeup Remover on Stubborn Lipstick

  • Don't try to rub off red lipstick (which makes it smear across your mouth — not so sexy). Instead, take a cotton ball or tissue, dip it in makeup remover, and just dab to erase the dark stain fast.

9. Tame Brows with Eye Cream

  • Pat any kind of rich eye cream over brows to help keep them hydrated and banish those icky white specks that look like dandruff.

10. Buff with Baking Soda

  • If you find yourself streaking (not glowing) after applying self-tanner, put some baking soda on a loofah, and scrub away the stripes.

11. Brush on Hair Spray

  • For the final step of your blow-dry, spray hair spray onto your brush, and run it through strands from roots to tips. This way, your do isn't so plastered and stiff but still holds volume and shine.

12. Boost Body Lotion with Baby Oil

  • If you're craving shiny legs that aren't greasy, blend a drop of baby oil into your normal body lotion for extra luster.

13. Dab Essential Oil on a Hangnail

  • Put on apricot oil, the kind found in health-food stores, to protect cuticles from turning rough and raggedy.

14. Quell a Cold Sore with Cream

  • When a cold sore is coming on, dab a bit of thick moisturizer, like Aquaphor, over it to prevent it from getting worse.

15. Freeze Your Eyeliner

  • If the tip of your eyeliner pencil crumbles and smears on your lids, store the liner in the freezer for 15 minutes before use so the tip is firm and goes across your skin smoothly.

16. Use Toothpaste on a Zit

  • Use just a pea-size amount. Let sit for 15 minutes to absorb the oil so the pimple won't get more clogged, then wash off.

17. Heat Up Your Curler

  • If you have stick-straight lashes, try blasting your metal eyelash curler with a hair dryer for a couple seconds to heat it up so your lashes bend more easily. And use a waterproof mascara. The formula dries faster than other mascaras, so it sets the curl more effectively.

18. Use Soap Without Water

  • You know those fancy bars that are actually too pretty to use? Toss them in your underwear or tee-shirt drawers to make your skin smell delicious.

19. Groom Brows with a Toothbrush

  • Mist an (unused!) toothbrush or eyebrow comb with hair spray to help flatten and tame unruly brows.

20. Put Diaper-Rash Cream on Dry Spots

  • Slather on a thick layer of diaper-rash cream to heal cracked elbows and feet.

21. Lubricate Your Lashes

  • An easy way to draw attention to your eyes without putting on a pile of makeup is to comb petroleum jelly lightly through the tips of eyelashes to get a sexy, subtle sparkle.

22. Spike Lotion with Bronzer

  • If you don't have time to book a self-tanning session, mix a few pumps of body bronzer with regular hand lotion and pat it on your legs for a gradual dose of sexy, beachy color.

23. Air-Dry Your Curls

  • Let your hair dry indoors before going out in the cold. The curls will be really bouncy and piecey-perfect.

24. Press a Tea Bag on Splotches

  • If your skin is sensitive or just looking irritated and puffy for some reason, steep a bag of green tea for a minute or two, let it cool down, and dab it over your face. The antioxidants in the tea take down inflammation.

25. Shave with Conditioner

  • Ran out of shaving cream? Do double duty by coating your stems with a thick hair conditioner. It softens the hair so it's easier to shave off and makes legs feel amazingly silky.

26. Amp Shine with Vinegar

  • Mix one part vinegar with four parts carbonated water, and soak dry hair. Leave on for 15 minutes before you shampoo to lock in shine and combat dullness.

27. Exfoliate Your Pits

  • If your underarms start to look dry and flaky, an easy trick is to exfoliate them with a gentle face scrub to keep that skin pretty when going sleeveless.

28. Customize Your Body Lotion

  • Instead of shelling out for an expensive perfumed body product, you can make your own by pouring a few drops of fragrance into any scent-free lotion. Rub it on-the scent will last for hours.

29. "Brush" with Mouthwash

  • If you're too wiped out after a late night of partying to clean your teeth, rinse with water and mouthwash, then use a dry toothbrush on the area where your teeth hit your gums.

30. Make an Egg-White Mask

  • To revive tired, dull skin without hitting the spa table, try this: Crack open an egg in a bowl, separate the yolk, and use the egg whites to make a face mask. The proteins help to heal and restore skin's moisture. Leave it on for five minutes, and rinse off.

Refreshing Drink!

It's been raining for 2 days now here and I feel like it is already winter time. It was windy and the wind was blowing a cold mist that I have to wear my coat to protect me from chilling. I never did know it was early for the cold weather up here. All I know is I should be enjoying the summer time because it will be Fall time soon and everything will change.

As I am doing my job today, my husband show up and surprised me a visit. It wasn't his time yet to pick me up for our lunch break but he did it anyway. He just wanted to see me and give me this refreshing drink for me to enjoy. Now, this confuse me a little bit... he bought me a mango-strawberry shake and he knows it has been raining here since yesterday. The worst part is, I was chilling and got a brain-freeze! I should have know better... but he was romantic and sweet to surprised me and let me enjoy my refreshing drink.

Yummy Breaded Chicken Fillet

It was 3 days ago when I cooked something for my husband. It was a recipe I got from Jacy. I know I should have made this the first time I saw the delicious chicken recipe she made - Recipe: Breaded Chicken Fillet . I wasn't even sure back then that I will have time since everything was still a mess in our new place plus the job I got. My time to cook has been taken away from me because of the things I need to do and all the important things we have to fix before moving in to our new house.

Now, this is the time! Another crowning glory in the kitchen. My breaded chicken fillet was a knocked-out for me and my husband. I used Italian breadcrumbs and added crushed red pepper for my chicken seasoning aside from the main ingredients. I served it with lemon wedges and plain white rice. With this recipe, you can taste the lemon and crushed red pepper in it.
