Girls Talk: New Year's Resolution

I don't usually make my New Year's Resolution as they are always forgotten when I make it but I know I am a good girl. I know what are my responsibilities and limitations (when it comes to shopping). But there's only one thing I wanted to change - I will not play too much games in Facebook as I will be concentrating more on working my ass out and earn money this summer.

I will still be in the blogging business once in a while but not present all the time. I want to spend more time with my husband alone while I am working. I thank God for giving us a blessed, fruitful and prosperous years that we have been together. Happy New Year everyone!

What's Your Holiday Wish?

Your Holiday Wish is Being with Family and Friends

The holidays are near and dear to your heart.
You don't need much to make you happy this time of year.

As long as you're able to be near the people you love most, you are content.
It's really that simple.

You want nothing more than a full house of people celebrating the season.
It doesn't matter if it's your house or not, just as long as everyone is there.

And if someone doesn't happen to be around during the holidays,
you think about him or her often.
You get very sentimental this time of year.

Girls Talk: Christmas Tradition

It's Girls Talk time! I love this meme every Thursday. I always make sure that I am following every theme every Thursday.

It's been 3 consecutive years since I celebrated Christmas here in the United States. I will always say that nothing can beat the Christmas celebration in the Philippines. Although, some families here in the U.S. prepare their food for Christmas dinner and have fun all night long but being away from my mother and sisters wouldn't even complete my real Christmas celebration.

Back home, we don't exchange gifts as long as we share and eat the food we prepared. There's Christmas carolers, the Simbang Gabi, the Christmas party and all. I wish I am home. Merry Christmas everyone!

The Secret Life of Teenager

Have you seen the TV show, The Secret Life of the American Teenager? The show focuses on the relationships between families and friends and how they deal with the unexpected teenage pregnancy and must deal with juggling motherhood and high school life while her family and friends experience relationship challenges of their own. It is a hard experience especially when the teenager girl is not ready to take care of a newborn baby and doesn't know what will happen to her and the baby's future.

Pregnant teenagers face many of the same obstetrics issues as women in their 20's and 30's. There are additional medical concerns for younger mothers particularly those under 15 years old and those living in developing countries. There's a risk factor about Teen Pregnancy and It's Effects that may be associated with socioeconomic factors. The reason of lack of prenatal care is usually delayed pregnancy testing, denial or even fear of telling others about their pregnancy. It is a horrible feeling. My friend in college got pregnant when she's 18 years old. I may not know what she went through but I am happy that her whole family supported her own ordeal. Now, her little boy is growing so fast and very active.

Girls Talk: Christmas Decoration

Girls Talk

It's Girls Talk time! I love this meme every Thursday. I feel connected to the blogging once again after a very long break last summer. I have been working my ass off to earn extra moolah and now I am back! I just love it! Thanks to Niko for setting this up.

It has been 3 consecutive Christmas years that I haven't done any Christmas decorating. We always move from one place to another and now, we are here in Hawaii. What I do to feel the Christmas spirits is to go to the mall and have my picture taken to a Christmas tree or to any Christmas decorations they have. I like it that way. It saves me from the hassles of here and there especially now that we are away from home and enjoying the islands of Hawaii.

What Christmas Tree Are You?

You Are a Bright Christmas Tree

For you, the holidays are all about fun and seasonal favorites.

You are into all things Christmas, even if they're a little tacky.

Where I Have Been?

The map shows all the states I have traveled to. Stops at airports don’t count. I have pictures to prove them. My husband and I went on a road trip for every month and we always like driving because we could see lots of nice views and can stop whenever we want to.

I was thinking that our next road trip is going all the way to east coast. I want to see and eat fresh lobsters in Maine.

Christmas Tag

Alright, I must admit that I am missing the Pinoy version of celebrating Christmas. The Misa de Gallo or Simbang Gabi for 9 days starting on December 16. I miss waking up around 3:30AM and get ready for church around 4AM. Of course it was a struggle but I made it. Next thing, I miss Christmas party. From Elementary to High School, I never missed Christmas party in school, the exchange gifts and the food that we shared was fun.

You must remember that "Until one feels the spirit of Christmas, there is no Christmas. All else is outward display-so much tinsel and decorations. For it isn't the holly, it isn't the snow. It isn't the tree not the firelight's glow. It's the warmth that comes to the hearts of men when the Christmas spirit returns again."

I miss celebrating Christmas with my family and friends back home. I miss my motther's cooking. I miss her kisses and caring love to me. It will be 3 consecutive 3 years of missing Christmas celebration with them,. Nobody can beat Pinoy version of celebrating Christmas. I wish I am home. Thank you Anne - My Little Home for tagging me.

Wow! It's been a long time since I joined this Photo Hunt meme. I can't even remember when was the last time I posted about it and now, I am back to share something.

Last Thanksgiving Day, we went to the west side of the Big Island and spent our Thanksgiving Day. My husband and I have no idea about any open restaurants that day so we decided not to make any reservations that day. Before heading to the west side of the island, we stopped by at Waipio Lookout Valley where you can see the magnificent views of the rain forest and the ocean. It was beautiful!

Girls Talk: Birth

For today's Girls Talk topic - all about Birth. I was born September 29 in my grandparents (Father side) province. I was bald and I have thin hair when I was a baby. My mother wants to give me a long name - Amma Paula Anne but my grandfather protested. He said, I am going to have a hard time writing my full name when I am ready to go to school. So my mother changed my name to Hazel and my grandfather agreed to that name. It feels like my grandfather was the one who named me after all. I must thank my grandfather because it's easy for me to write my name that fast!

Girls Talk: Fave Gift!

As I join Girls Talk for the second time, I can't help myself on what to think about my favorite birthday gift. I turned 27 last September 29 and the picture above top everything. My mom's birthday card. It was so nice to think that my mother sent me a birthday card with a meaningful message inside. Usually, I always get a text message from her like, "Happy birthday, anak. I love you!" But this one is so different. I just can't wait to spend more time with my mother when I get home next year (hopefully!).

God Wants Me To Know...

On this day of your life, Hazel, we believe God wants you to know ... that there is no such thing as conditional love.
In God We Trust
Love is either unconditional or it's no love. You might like someone conditional on their personality or behavior or circumstances. But love accepts no boundaries. So never say 'I love you because', for love has no cause, love comes from God.

Manic Monday #189

You have a brain tumor. Though there is no discomfort at the moment, this tumor would unquestionably kill you in six months. However, your life can (and will) be saved by an operation; the only downside is that there will be a brutal incision to your frontal lobe. After the surgery, you will be significantly less intelligent. You will still be a fully functioning adult, but you will be less logical, you will have a terrible memory, and you will have little ability to understand complex concepts or difficult ideas. The surgery is in two weeks.

How do you spend the next fourteen days?

::: I will enjoy the next 14 days as a traveler! Wherever I go, I know I love what I am doing. :::

Every person you have ever slept with is invited to a banquet where you are the guest of honor. No one will be in attendance except you, the collection of your former lovers, and the catering service. After the meal, you are asked to give a fifteen-minute speech to the assembly.

What do you talk about?

::: Everything and anything that the other guest would love to hear from me. My adventures and some inspiring thoughts. :::

You have won a prize. The prize has two options, and you can choose either (but not both). The first option is a year in Europe with a monthly stipend of $2,000. The second option is ten minutes on the moon.

Which option do you select?

::: Are you kidding me?! I always loved to go to Europe! I love to discover everything and anything in Europe! :::

Monday, November 23, 2009

On This Day...

On this day of your life, Hazel, we believe God wants you to know ... that humans learn only by trial and error, and that includes you.
In God We Trust
You've got to live life, not think about it. Step into the midst of things, try and fail and learn and stand up again. The question is not whether you will or will not make mistakes - you will. The question is do you want to learn and grow, or do you want to shrink back and be stuck? Take that step you've been avoiding. You can succeed, or you can get feedback that it didn't work, but in either case you are sure to feel alive.

How Do You Tell the Truth?

You Are Honest and Open

You are a very honest person,
yet you somehow avoid being brutally honest with people.

You know that the truth often does hurt,
so you try to cushion the blow as much as possible.
And because of your approach, people do appreciate your honesty.

You're the type of person who complements before you criticize.
You try to put the truth in perspective and make it seem not so dire.

And whenever you're stating your opinion,
you make it clear that it's just that ... your point of view.
You can only speak your own personal truth.

Manic Monday #187

Most of the U.S. observed Daylight Savings Time yesterday. Is it easy or difficult for you to switch your body clock? Do you suffer from jet lag when traveling?

::: Yes it is. Especially now that we are here in Hawaii for the winter time. I had a hard time adjusting to the time difference and my body clock feels like I am still in Central time. :::

If you had to pick one place in your town to bring a tourist, where would you go?

::: Medora, North Dakota. I want them to experience the life in the Northwest. :::

When you travel away from home, do you miss it?

::: Yes I do. I always miss home and the people especially my family and friends. I can be away from home not missing it but sometimes, I think of it. :::
